Cathy is the Health Promotion Commissioner for the WHSSB and has the lead role in ensuring that health promotion strategies are developed, co-ordinated and implemented, and that health promotion is an integral part of the commissioning of all health and social services.
Before taking up this post in September 2003, Cathy was Assistant Manager in the Health Promotion Department in Westcare, working in health service settings. Previous employment included posts as a Health Promotion Officer covering a range of health topics and settings, a short contract to set up the Health Action Zone and a two-year placement as a training officer in Management/Organisational Development. Cathy also spent five years as a project manager for the CAWT Community Child Accident Prevention Project, which piloted a lay worker approach to child accidents among under 5's in areas of high deprivation north and south of the border.
Cathy enjoys working in adult education and personal development. She is a qualified assertiveness trainer and has completed the NLP Practitioner programme with sensory systems in Glasgow.
