Brendan is the Manager of the Western Investing for Health Partnership since 2002 and leads on the health improvement team in the western area. He is the lead on Suicide Prevention, chairs the Health Improvement Advisory Panel, Self Harm Registry, Obesity Prevention Taskforce and PSNI Liaison Group. He is co-author of a number of reports including BMJ publication on the Impact of the Smoking Ban on Bar Workers and a report on the Mental Health of Long-term Unemployment Men. His previous post in health was as Community Development Manager.
Brendan has previously worked for six years in the Community & Voluntary sector with the Rural Area Partnership in Derry (RAPID) as Rural Development Manager covering a broad range of initiatives from social and economic development to networking and strategic planning. Prior to this post Brendan worked in Public Sector Housing for eighteen years with the NIHE, covering a wide range of disciplines such as Planning, Finance, Housing Benefit and Estate Management.
Brendan is a former member of the General Consumer Council (NI), Public Health Alliance for the Island of Ireland and chairman of Foyle Connect Rural Transport Scheme and NW Rural Transport Forum. He was also instrumental in the establishment of an innovative cross-border development organisation, NW Rural Development Ltd. and lead on a number of initiatives through CAWT.
