Phillip O'Doherty

Philip graduated from Salford University in 1979 and commenced work as a public health inspector with the formerly named Londonderry City Council before taking up an appointment in Surrey as an Environmental Health Officer a year later.  In 1982 he returned to Northern Ireland working in Strabane District Council for 3 years before returning to Derry City Council in 1985.  In 1988 he was appointed Deputy Chief EHO, a position he held until his recent promotion to Chief EHO.
 
Philip holds postgraduate qualifications in air pollution, acoustics and management and is Secretary of the Northern Ireland Radiation Monitoring Group.  He is increasingly involved in partnership working in wider health agendae including Community Safety, Home Safety, Health Promoting Schools, Investing for Health and initiatives directed at improving the health and well being of our communities especially those that are most disadvantaged.  He is a board member of the newly formed Northern Ireland Energy Agency which evolved from the amalgamation of several local energy agencies.
