I have worked in the Housing Executive for the past 28 years and have been the Area Planner for the West Area since January 2002. Prior to my transfer to Derry I was the Area planner in the South East Area and was based in Newtownards.
As Area Planner my primary responsibility is the identification of the need for social housing within the council areas of Limavady, Magherafelt, Cookstown, Omagh, Strabane, and Derry City and influencing the direction of the housing market. Annually the Planning Department produces a District Housing Plan for each council area and this document is published and circulated to a wide range of bodies and individuals.
Partnership working has been a major feature of my post and in recent years this aspect of the job has increased significantly with health professionals where joint planning and research has taken place to secure accommodation for specific individuals or groups with supported housing needs.
I look forward to working with the Investing for Health Partnership, and will hope to see in the future successful outcomes that will affect the quality of life for us all.
