In September 2002 the Western Health & Social Services Board established an Investing for Health Partnership, comprising of 30 members, drawn from the Voluntary, Community, Statutory and Private Sectors. The Partnership recognises the work and contribution of other partnership entities and has representatives drawn from the Health Action Zone, Health and Social Services Council, HSS Trusts and Local Strategy Partnerships.
The vision of the Western Investing for Health Partnership is:

'To inspire and lead people to work together for positive living'
The efforts being made by the Partnership to engage with the community, to consult with its statutory, public and private sector partners reflects a commitment to ensure the WIFH Partnership adds value and becomes a distinctive force for change in the Western Area.
WIFH has produced a new strategy developed through an inclusive process of community engagement and consultation, action research, mapping of the strategic context, partnership debate and working through designated sub-groups. This process has developed a strategic framework with four key themes designed to cut across the seven objectives of IFH. The four themes are:
